Jackson Karp "Awesomistic"

Jackson Karp was born and raised in Belgrade, Mont. attending Belgrade schools from kindergarten through senior year. This is where I met Jackson, we started in the same kindergarten class and walked across the same graduation stage. Despite these bookends Jackson had a different experience than I did. Jackson has autism, or as he says, “Awesomism.” He has never let that slow him down, however. He has taken his experiences through life, both triumphs and failures, and turned those into teaching moments allowing him to mentor a current Belgrade student Kayden Adams. Jackson takes great pride in being able to influence the next generation and help those with autism or other learning disabilities overcome the same hurdles he struggled with while growing up.  He is also proud to be an advocate for Autism, helping remove many of the stereotypes associated with the disability.
